TN: Christmas Week wines- Bdx, Burg, Etna, Champagne, etc

With a recipe I love (Jean-Georges Vongerichten?s salmon in a yuzu/miso broth), the

2017 Joseph Colin Sur le Sentier du Clou St. Aubin 1er Cru. That 2017 combo of richness and brightness, crisp white fruits, a light hazelnut note, long mineral finish. B+/A-

Sheetpan hoisin pork with potatoes and green beans

2005 Coudert/Roilette Cuvee Tardive Fleurie Lovely and long, fresh cranberry and raspberry, fall leaves, baking spices. In a great place. A-

Vietnamese food (summer rolls, squid in curry, catfish caramel hot pot,.shrimp on rice noodles, garlicky greens)

2015 Heymann-Löwenstein Winninger Uhlen Riesling "R" Roth Lay 2016 Heymann-Löwenstein Winninger Uhlen Riesling "R" Roth Lay I didn?t take notes on these, but quite enjoyed, the 2016 is actually more open and approachable now, but both are delicious..

Roast chicken with a mushrtoom/5spice/noodle/broccolini stirfry

2007 d?Angerville ?Fremiets?Volnay 1er Lighter, elegant style, red fruit and mushroom, drinking well. B+

No wine Christmas Eve (oysters, lobster, fried rice) as I was driving to city later (a good time was had by all on the streets).

Christmas only five of us, families facing each other in opposite rooms! Potato chips with ikura and creme fraiche, smoked mussels, shrimp cocktail, goose, rib roast, goosefat potatoes, broccoli with fried shallots and olives. ,. I was only wine geek so didn?t dig deep, but we enjoyed wines

2002 Pol Roger Blanc des Blancs Clean elegant Chardonnay fruit (pear accented with lemon zest), brioche, flowers. A bright and lively sensibility. Fine mousse, long finish, Wish I had more. A-

1990 Bernard Morey Le Charmois Saint-Aubin 1er , I?ve enjoyed before, but this bottle was horribly corked, but didn't open a backup, just drank more Champagne.

1989 Domaine de Chevalier A bit of tannin but not obtrusive, firm black currant fruit, coffee, some gravelly earth. B+

2002 Pousse d'Or Clos d'Audignac Volnay 1er Ripe red fruit, resolved tannins, not much in the way of depth and complexity here.B-

Betsy made Bucatini all'Amatriciana, wine was the 2014 Passopisciaro Passorosso .While I didn?t love this I liked more than last bottle, fruit seemed less stewed, alcohol seemed more in check , but still not something I?d buy again B- Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice.Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
