TN: Loire, RRV, Chablis, etc

Sunday evening Betsy's quartet had a concert and afterwards I had a glass of leftover rose, and then Monday night I had a board meeting so no wine. B y Tuesday I was ready to open a bottle, and went with the 2008 Chidaine "Le s Choisilles" Montlouis. A non-traditional match with linguine with littlen ecks and pesto, but did ok. Just a hint of sweetness, good acids with pinea pple and peach fruit and some Chenin-wooliness on finish. B+

Wednesday Dave flew in for a friend's wedding this weekend, and Betsy's sis ter joined us for lobster salad and soba noodles with vegetables.

2004 Pascal Cotat "La Grande Cote" Sancerre Rich full style, citrus and nuts, good crispness, the RS this showed when young seems to have disappeared, excellent length. B+/A-

2013 Barat Chablis (375 ml) Good acids, sharp lemon fruit, serviceable. B-

Thursday I took Betsy to JFK to fly to China, and then that night I went fo r Rieslings and reds in city (reported already). Friday grilled swordfish f or Dave and myself, and opened the 2004 . Paul Hobbs RRV Chardonnay. Oak and butter, competently done just not the k ind of wine I like, my other bottles will be gifts to those who like this s tyle. . C/C+

After dinner headed to Marc's where local group's theme was "natural wine" . Somehow I managed to lose my notes on this. The Giol Prosecco was fresh and light, as was the 2014 Withers Rose. My three favorite reds were 2011 Guillaume Gilles Cornas ( I did not guess Syrah, though), the 2013 Algueira (Ribera Sacra), red fruited /spicy Mencina, and a Viticcio Lucius CCR that I had not liked in the past , but found attractive this night.

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a p arty where it was only choice.Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivi ty, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
