Two Bordeaux from Mag

I opened two Bordeaux beautis this weekend from magnums at a dinner party. We served rack of Ohio lamb wth grilled summer veggies. The wines were 20

03 Chateau Leoville Poyferre and 1989 Chateau Pichon Longueville Comptess d e Lalande. First up was the Comptesse, showing a little age with some mino r bricking otherewise deep red. Nose of leather and cedar with red currant s and plum notes. Lots of mature notes on the palate, well resolved tannin s, cassis and woody cedar with plenty of red fruits and black cherry on the finish. Next the Poyferre which was deep dark purple in the glass. Black berry and cassis on the nose with a bit of vanilla and smoke. Lush on the palate with black fruits, and a richness that goes on for minutes.
