Dale Williams always has interesting dinners, so I thought I would post the wines we drank last night and also pose a question.
1988 Leo Buring Eden Valley Riesling - drinking very nicely, with just a hint of kerosene that these old Aust. rieslings often get. Wine of the night for me 1981 Les Clos Moreau - excellent wine. Right at its peak 1994 Moillard Clos Des Grandes Vignes (Nuits St Georges). I know the negotiant but not the vineyard*. Too much tannin which overpowered the fruit. Ok, but not a great drink. 1986 Moss Wood Cabernet (West Aust). Lovely ripe fruit characters. Still a long way to go. 1985 Ch. Margaux. Excellent wine, very slight touch of brown on the meniscus, but a lovely long aftertaste. 1986 Rabaud Pomis (Bommes). Good match for desert. Just a hint of botrytis. Its nice we have byo restaurants left in Australia - $15.00 Aud per bottle corkage on these wines is very reasonable in my opinion.
- Does anyone know this vineyard and can tell me something about it?
