Blackberries too old ?

Mar 15, 2005 4 Replies

Hi All,

I am a beginner at making wine. I have made one batch from a kit and it turned out good.

I have some Blackberries that I mashed and froze about 18 months ago. They are in heavy zip lock bags that I squeezed all the air out of. Are they too old to use to make wine from?????

Not at all, unless you cooked them too. They are probably in better shape for winemaking than any other purpose.

I did not cook them . . . I mashed them with a hand potatoe masher, put them in the zip lock bags, squeezed the air out then froze them. . . .

If they taste good, they are good.
