crockpot

hey everyone i was talking to someone at my local wineshop and they were talking about boiling the fruit to extract the flavor and i was wondering if using a crockpot would work better to extract more flavor. im new of course as yall know and i was just wondering about this thanks eveyone. al

There are exceptions, but in general it is not recommended that you boil fruit. It can impart a cooked taste to your wine. Some root are boiled and maybe a few other things. Could you post what you are making?

boiling will make the wine mature faster however around 65 C for 5 minutes is usually enough.

Boiling at 65 C? You must live at a VERY high altitude! ;o)
