Glassware

Hi all,

I'm shopping for wine making stuff... like beakers, pipetes, etc., without paying through the nose to someplace like McMaster Carr. Any ideas?

it's like a free online garage sale. I've picked up a few wine related items. Search for 'wine' in the for sale section...

Well, if you're looking for lab equipment may I recommend the following ebay store:

I purchased quite a few items from them (Buret, pipetts, bulb, etc) and not only was the pricing about 50% off standard ebay other prices, the shipping was pretty cheap too.

Now if you're looking for 5 gallon carboys- watch craigslist- in fact, google with site:craigslist.org +carboy +wine and that'll find you some good hits, but you'll have to narrow it down to locations near you.

They sell high and low end glassware, from Corning's Pyrex and Kimax down to to Bomex and Sibata. Most of my glassware came from there, it's an obsessive compulsive thing when you start getting this stuff... I like the cheap stuff, it hurts lees when you break it. You can buy Class 'A' precison or student grade too.

They have a catalog with more than what shows online, they will also order stuff in for you. I get Alconox for cleaning glass and Hydrion capsules for pH buffer solutions from them too.

If you are feeling daring you can try American Science and Surplus at:
