I have a new two roller type. made in Italy, adjustable aluminum rollers, tough plastic gears, stainless steel frame and so far I did grapes, peaches, plums, apricots and pears. It worked great and was fast and easy to clean up with a hose. I really don't know about the splined type. I've seen them, but never used one. Hope this helps. Jim
