It would probably work on an emulator (wine, etc)

I am not sure what it would take to port it to another platform. I have been thinking of making a version for Pocket PC as well as Linux. I will look into what it would take to port it.

Silly question, but will it work on a computer that doesn't have Access? I try to avoid MSoft and use OpenOffice for most of my desktop needs... but it doesn't have a database.

It creates the database using ADO and ADOX and manipulates the data via the ADO connections. You don't need to have Access installed but you will need to have MDAC installed from Microsoft. I am not sure as to how it will work with OpenOffice, but I think as long as you have MDAC 2.7 you should be OK. Let me know what you find out.

Downloaded... went to install, got an error: Got an error tring to register c:\windows\system\msadox.dll

pres retry does nothing, press cancel stops the install and removes temp files (nice touch by the way.. most programs just crash and burn leaving the user to figure out hte crap left behind and get rid of it) Press Ignore will finish the install, but gets an error seting up the Database.. Asks if you want Brix or SG, then get an error 430. class does not support automation or does not support expected interface.

I suspect the problem is due to the "ignore" and not registering te DLL, but what would cause that? I have office 2000 Pro.....

Anyone have advice for non-access install?

Disregard last post...I needed to unzip the file and it worked fine...

new question:

I tried to exit from the BRIX/SG choice at the beginning but selected brix before I had time to ask the following question to this group.

I check BRIX in the beginning with a refractometer to validate the sugar content, without fermentation...

then I use SG during the rest of the process..

What is the reason to specify and since I just selected Brix (is this a metric US thing?)...do I need to uninstall to change my selection to SG?

fine...

Change the following registry key from Brix to SG:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\LHWinelog\Program

Some of my users use Brix instead of SG. I am also trying to market it to professional Wineries/Vineyards and many of them are telling me they use Brix. I have users in Austrailia who use Brix and even Braume.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any questions.
