Maryland is a consumer must buy at a retail outlet and retailers (other than producers) must buy from distributors.

But there is an interesting exception in St. Mary's County in the southwestern corner of Maryland. Cider may be sold by homebrewers from their homes!

Someone recently informed me of a homebrew winemaker who lives here in Howard County where homebased businesses are legal, The Zoning Board (which I have to be more than reasonable) will not give him a winery permit because the State did not include Howard County in their winery list. This is 3rd hand information so the details may be incorrect.

There are at least two micropubs in Howard County.
