My temporary departure, an OT aside!

I am sure that many will be relieved to know that I am about to leave on a long cycling holiday. So I shalln't be upsetting anyone for a while!



I leave on Saturday 21 May by Euro Bike Express ( a coach towing a bike trailer) to travel from home to Strasbourg in Alsace. After that it is by my trusty velo (Velocepanther!} and pedal power down the Danube to Passau, through Austria to Wien, through Hungary to Budapest and then it begins to get interesting as I eventually head through Serbia ( briefly) and a long flat dusty ride to Constanta on the Black Sea. It will be about 4000 kms of new experience!



If I survive the trip I shall be back in mid July!



I hope to celebrate my 68th birthday in Budapest on 8 June



Until then I shall be travelling through a heavily "beer orientated" part of Europe -- but the Wachau in Austria promises a few jugs of good wine!

Have a good trip and happy birthday in advance Trevor. I looked you up on your web site. Last year's trip looked fantastic and from the sounds of it this year will be as good a challenge. Can't help but think that starting in Strasbourg a nice bike trip down the la route du vin d'Alsace would be a good alternative. Certainly not as long as your planned trip but lots of wine along the way. Have a good time.

Well, you may be getting on a little bit in years, but you look fit enough to me. You'll probably outlive most of the rest of us.

Have a safe trip and a good time. Wish I had the time to do that myself, but for now I'll enjoy it vicariously. Bon Voyage!

What a great trip! I hope that when I'm 68 I can manage doing that myself.

Sounds like a great holiday! I work for a Dutch company, spend about one week of each month in Europe (mostly the Netherlands), and really envy my Dutch colleagues' opportunities for extended travel on the continent!
