Welchs Concord Grape Juice Concentrate

I have been given some of this, 12 cans to be exact. Can a decent wine be made from this? I see Jack K has a concentrate recipe for Welchs, but not sure this is the same type. Could I use that recipe?

If so any advice on how much concentrate to use per gallon and should I add any other items to give it more body and flavor?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Dan

PS: anyone know of any wine making clubs in the Everett, Seattle Washington area?

Dan, Are we talking about Welch's 100% Concord grape juice frozen concentrate? If so, then yes a decent wine can be made if you're willing to let it age. Yes, please use Jack's recipe. I use 2 containers per gallon, and just follow the rest of his recipe. Darlene

I haven't tried any myself, but I have a batch of 100% Niagara going. I've heard from others that the 100% Concord makes a pretty decent wine. Use 2 12 ounce containers per gallon. Actually think they are 11.5 ounces, but you get the idea. Let us know how it turns out.

Hi.

thats the address for the recipe. Here in my area only frozen Welches grape cocktail is available. The ingredients list nothing but grape juices however. The wine I am making from it(1gal),has trouble finishing fermenting. First it stopped altogether, then is verrrryyyy slow even using a large yeast starter. Its still working after 6 weeks or so.Anyone else have similar experience with this product?......andy j.

Yes, I have. Just be patient. Next time try some yeast nutrient - it seems to help things get going and stay going. Darlene
