Welch's Grape Juice Concentrate?

Well it would help if you gave more information than "I am"

All I can say in response is that people make wine out of it all the time. The simplest thing to look for is to see if the concentrate had sorbate or benzoate added, athough they normally do not.

Our stores here in Anchorage seem to have plenty. I cannot find the Old Orchid juices that some folks seem to like.

But if it is your first batch, how do you know that it makes a much better wine (more flavorfull?) than welch's?

I'm very curious if anyone hit the mark yet. I have yet to see welch's RED grape juice in concentrate form. They all have the Red grape juice in bottles around here, and I'm not sure of the source of these grapes.

The concentrates we do have on the shelves are the Niagara and the Concord. Of course the Concord is their purple and is not marketed by color, only by name and all those grapes come from up here in the north east.

In fact, that reminds me that I have 5 gal concord ready to bottle tonight.

Concord is a red grape juice. When we refer to Welch's red, it is concord.

Yes, but as Hoss alluded to Welches actually makes 3 colors of grape juice all available in bottles. While wine comes in two colors, grapes actually come in 5 colors (red, white, green, blue and purple)

Welches make white, which is from niagra grapes, purple from concord and red from an unknown (red and blue) grape source. So if he was been looking for "Welches Red Grape juice" in frozen concentrate, he is out of luck.

Mdgzino, not being able to find frozen concord grape juice is puzzling. Both Welches and Old Orchard are widely available. The easiest solution is to contact the grocery manager at your favorite place and ask them to get some in.

Welp. I found some Welch's Red today, but it says "100% with other ingredients added", What the hekc does THAT mean? I tried to look at the ingredient list, but my tired old eyes couldn't see the type.

Okay you kinda got me there...but what i MEANT was that I would assume that since it is a much better tasting GRAPE JUICE that it would make a better wine...the welchs just doesnt have as much flavor in juice form as the cascadian farms. On a side note... i've just started a second batch using home made grape juice that grew in my Great Grandmother's back yard...it makes the other two taste like water.

well that is true. you do have to have good grapes to make good wine. Of course, I would caution that more flavor does not always equal better wine. some wines are better with a delicate flavor, like Pinot.
