That should *not* be the case - you have bottle that's gone off, very much so. No lactic character in Aventinus when it's in good shape.

Indeed. If you haven't yet tried the Eisbock, it's even more intensely caramelly and malty than the standard Aventinus, and not to be taken lightly. Great stuff, though.

Oh, I know! I think you might be confusing me with the original poster? I meant I wasn't going to try to taste, note & compare the beers, since the Aventinus was off (travesty!).

Again, I HAVE had it before, I just hadn't gotten to the one in my fridge at the time of posting that.

Yeah, I like it, but it tasted even more alcoholic than I recall! Yummy though. I was sure not to down it too fast!

Argh! "0 Available" and they can only ship spirits to CA, nowhere else... Looks like BevMo won't be any help.
