Dogfish Head Chicory Stout

It's decent but not, imho, anything to crow about. The same with the Shelter Pale Ale. Now....their Indian Brown Ale, 90 minute Ale are another story.

Btw, I just read on their website that the 2003 version of the World Wide Stout is 18.8% abv. I thought that I read here that they cut back from last year's 23% to 21%. Comments?

The version released overseas is 21%, but the U.S. version is 18.8%. Which is fine by me, as it'll be closer to the sublime 18% WWS from two years back.

And yeah, the Shelter Pale's nothing to write home about. I'm surprised the 60 Minute even lets it be on the same playground without smacking its wussy little ass around.

and you'll be surprised at just how sweet that beer is for 120 IBUs!

No kidding... It smells 120 IBUs, but doesn't taste it -- well, didn't taste as I expected for 120 IBUs anyway.

Nope, it has the sticky sweetnes of a 20% ABV beer!

I was surprised at how not so bitter the Stone Ruination was at 100IBUs.

Btw, I'm drinking a Great Divide Maverick IPA right now and at 60IBUs, it's quite bitter but..imho, very nicely done. I'm thankful that Colorado offers a multitude of fine beers of all sorts of styles.

You told me it would be sweet but I'm STILL surprised. I like their label..."enjoy now or age for a decade or so" LOL!

Have you seen the label for their Olde School Barleywine? I can't recall it verbatim but it suggests to go bury it in the backyard and forget about it for 10 years.

Couldn't agree more.

I was very disappointed in the Shelter and somewhat disappointed in the Chicory stout.

But the 90-minute and the Indian Brown are fantastic. And you did not mention their Raison d'Etre, for some reason!

Haven't tried that one yet.
