Having a girlfriend who was stationed in Delaware and wouldn't stop comparing everything to dogfish head, I decided to break down and order some online. I must say they are both exceptional beers flavor wise if you like a full, rich, just short of heavy beer, probably among the top 3 I've ever had, but what struck me the most was how the alcohol affected me. This stuff is 9 and 11 percent by volume, but when I drank it, I didn't get drunk. I got the most pleasant, fuzzy, warm, relaxed, peaceful feeling I've ever had from any type of alcohol. And I didn't feel impaired at all (not that I would have driven, but you know). I highly reccomend enjoying a few of these if you ever get the chance. I got some Midas Touch with my order too, but havn't tried it yet. Its only a 4 pack, and I don't like mixing my beers in a night if I can help it. The first one ruins the flavor of the next. But anyway, anyone have opinions on midas?

I tried the Immort Ale last night and liked it.
Tonight I'll have the Apri Hop and 90 Minute IPA.
Why wait until tonight?

Not a huge fan of the Midas Touch. Very wine-esque, IIRC. The Raison and Immort Ale are great beers from DFH, and the reason your girlfriend raves about DFH is that they rock. Get the 60 Minute IPA, it's beautiful.

It was tough but worth the wait; I loved both of them. The Apri Hop really manages to keep the fruit understated.
Yep, and I've got some of that waiting in the fridge.
Just start her with something gentle, like a Young's Double Chocolate, or a kriek, or even a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.
I've finally got some of the 60 minute headed my way.

She can appreciate beer, but just never craves it. She's a big fan of Standard Chick Beer #1 (Lindemann's Framboise) and even likes gueuze quite a bit. She'll sample almost everything I try, and as long as it isn't too heavy she tends to kind of like it.
I want beer geek, not beer kind-of-liker. If she tried to kick my ass to take my Allagash Tripel away from me I'd be a happy man.

It's high time I tried that Allagash Tripel myself. I liked the other beers of theirs (wit, dubbel, grand cru) I've tried.

Their others are good, but the Allagash Tripel is, IMO, a masterpiece. One of my favorite styles, and I think it's the best tripel in the world.
