Los Angeles/Pasadina

Hi,

A friend who is deeply involved in the real ale scene in Scotland is visiting Los Angeles and Pasadena in particular to attend a wedding in early August.

Any information regarding micro-breweries and brewpubs to visit in the area would be most helpful. Also any beers in particular to watch out for please.

Many thanks for any assistance anyone is able to provide.

Cheers, Robin.

I like the Maarzen at Gorden Biersch in Oldtown, Pasadena. A very nice German-style red. The jury is out for me on Lucky Baldwin's, though their beer menu is huge..More Brewpubs in Pasadena!! c

There's a thread in this NG that has several recommendations. The thread is "BJ's Brewhouse."

If he's going to be in Pasadena, he should definitely hit Lucky Baldwin's. Owned by an English bloke (if your Scottish friend is willing to overlook that...). Sometimes some cask beers on, but always a very good and broad selection in a good atmosphere.

This may sound funny, but check out a place called "home of the stuffed sandwich"

This guy makes a decent polish sausage sandwich but the real treat here is the beer selection. I am not exactly a world traveller but this place has the deepest selection of brews i have ever seen. Its just south of pasadena in San Gabriel. Check out his menu in the website. This guy travels a lot to find the great beers and it shows. have fun.
