Ohio governor touts law change with brewery trip

CINCINNATI - Gov. John Kasich has on tap a visit to a southwest Ohio brewery to highlight benefits of a law change for microbrewers.

The governor's trip Thursday will take him to Mt. Carmel Brewing Company, about 15 miles east of Cincinnati. Co-owner Mike Dewey says a change in Ohio law at the end of last year cut out a fee and a number of requirements that were barriers to allowing samples for customers. As a result, the business opened a new tasting room in March.

Kasich's office says the visit will show the positive impact of a common sense law change. The governor's approval ratings remained flat among voters surveyed in a Quinnipiac University poll released this week, although their overall satisfaction has risen recently.
