Don't listen to people who've never looked hard enough, believe all italian beer is crap and tell you to stick to wine. Granted, most of the mainstream stuff is dire, but there's some really excellent beer to be had in Italy especially in the northern half of the country, although you can easily oversee it. Besides, the imports situation is pretty good too.
