Barbican (London) area recommendation

Hello everybody

I've left this till the last minute as usual but tomorrow night I'll be in the Barbican area of London.

I know it's a bit of a funny part of London, where several pubs close early, and it's a weekend, but does anyone knows any decent places in the Barbican/Moorgate area that might be OK on a Saturday night?

Spring is coming once again, and wife and I are again driving up thru the Yorkshire Dales.

I realize that the wonderful brewpub in Oxenhope is changed, and that the Gunnerside brewery is closed. With the exceptions of the Masham and Tim Taylor breweries, who's left? Looking for good ales and good food in the Haworth, Hawes, and Askrigg areas??

Although the brewery is closed at the Waggon and Horses the pub (at Oxenhope) is still definitely worth a visit. Five real ales including Landlord and a recent Keighley & Craven Camra Pub of the Season.. The food is good as well.

Can't hep but mention the buffet car on the Keighley and Worth Valley - up to three real ales and some interesting bottles and possibly me serving you. See

for info on train times.

In Keighley centre the Boltmakers, the Cricketers and the Brewery Arms are also worth a visit.

A bit further away the Fox and Goose in Hebden Bridge is worth a visit. Three guest beers plus their Eastwood and Saunders house beer (slighltly foxed).

I understand that the Moorcock at Garsdale is brewing its own beer. This is about 5 miles west of Hawes on the road towards Sedbergh. Not been there yet myself though.

Thanks for all the info. We will definitely return to the Waggon and Hosses in Oxenhope, but we will miss the stuff they used to brew there.

Probably catch a ride on the K&WV from Oxenhope one morning for the ride into Keighley for the pubs there, as well. Might just see you aboard.

Seems like there was a small brewpubs somewhere just outside of Leyburn. Wonder if he's still there. He did a wonderful Mild as I remember.
