For those of us who don't live in the Great Metropolis, some kind of hint of what this refers to might be useful. Like a link. I know about the dog and cat home there, but I doubt they drink real ale.

Oh, I know about the Let me Google that for You site. The point is, that the OP appeared to assume that we all knew what he was referring to.
It's in uk.food+drink.real-ale, and he mentions a location and "starts today" along with "three pounds entrance". Does it really take that much of an intellectual leap to guess what he may be talking about?
No but it's useful and courteous to provide a link to the details.

Thanks for the note. As I was down there (stopping at King William IV at Walthamstow) I did go and it was a good festival in a good venue.
They were affected on the Thursday by the LU strike and apparently the venue is not available next year due to refurbishment, Shame.
