My nephew is now working at or near Horsham. I'd like to point him in the direction of a local source of fine real ale.
My best plan (subject to availability) is to invest £20 with a local brewery available for him to pick up some bottles, 'have a tour of the pipes', and get the gen on local retail outlets. I'd really like him to spend 5 minutes having the works explained 'cos it might just stimulate an interest.
$64,000 question. Is there a good friendly micro near by?
I know of two breweries in Horsham, although I have no direct knowledge of he beers of either.

I used to live in Horsham And it was the K&B beers which first turned me on to beer, especially real ale. If the beers from these two new breweries are half as good as K&B beers then your nephew is in for a treat!
Some friends bought me a gift pack of a selection of Hepworth's ales a few weeks back - they do some decent stuff - far better than thta locally ubiquitous Harvey's potato water.

Actually Horsham has three breweries -- Weltons (previously of Dorking) now brew in an industrial unit about fifty yards from WJ King (incidentally, Hepworths is about two hundred yards the other side of King's, with the railway line in between!)
Also of note is the Beer Essentials offy in East Street, which always has several beers on gravity in addition to a good choice of bottled beers.
Understandably Hepworth's and King's offerings are somewhat similar to K&B, though the former tend to have more hop presence (I always found K&B rather bland) -- Welton's is not that easy to find in the immediate area.
I always found K&B
Not as hoppy as some beers but very flavoursome. My favourite tipple was Festive and Bitter - a half of Bitter with a bottle of Festive. Heaven!
horses & courses I know, but compared to many another regional, I've always quite enjoyed Harvey's, & you could hardly call their Le Coq Stout 'potato water', despite the Russians' love of that tuber. 'Sussex' won Gold in Best Bitter class at 2005 GBBF too.
