Info on Hereford?

Planning on taking a couple of friends to Hereford this Saturday, primarily to visit the 'Barrels' Beer Festival. Apart from the 'Spinning Dog'place are there any other hostelries worth visiting in the city centre?

Thanks in advance, Graham.

PS slightly off topic (apologies), is the train station far from the city centre?

I'm sure a moment on multimap, or get-a-map (the OS site), or streetmap.co.uk will give an idea of the layout, though I know they have a Railway Station, I know not of this newspeak train station!

Anyhow, the new Wetherspoon outlet there is considered better than average. A nice backstreet urban society pub/cafe bar is the Volunteer in Harold St, though a bit further out.

I'd avoid Barrels on a BH, they charge to get in! The Victory is the Spinning Dog outlet, and is quite close to Barrels.

sorry connection died before I could paste map:

the station is just off at the top of the map

a bit further out on Owen St, opposite side to the firestation, IIRC.

Mike, tks a million for the map and info - much appreciated!

Cheers and regards, Graham.

B****y creeping Americanization (sic). My kids drive me mad talking about train stations as well!

Brian

What's the problem? Railways don't stop at stations, trains do.
