Its not just thatched pubs that have been the subject of fires recently.
The award winning Basingstoke and North Hampshire Cricket Club has only just partially re-opened after an arson and burglary attack which saw the 100-year old club severely damaged in January.
The club was the North Hampshire CAMRA Club of the Year for 2003 and was the Wessex Area Regional runner-up. It had received its awards at the local CAMRA dinner in mid December when they were presented to steward Don Bradman.
It has been Good Beer Guide entry for several years and has been a very welcome real outlet in a town not renowned for good outlets offering a wide range of beers from local and regional brewers.
These do seem to be sad times :-(
