New Inn at Kilmington burns down

The New Inn at Kilmington, east Devon, was one of the few pubs featured in every edition of the GBG. I have heard that the fire was caused by a chimney fire, although the news report below does not confirm this.

Oh no! That's three thatched pubs gone within about a week! Two are main entries in the Good Pub Guide (the third is a lucky dip), and two are long standing entries in the Good Beer Guide. Methinks something needs to be done to reduce the combustibility of thatched pubs.
