OT: All night Hypermarket near French Channel Tunnel

Im heading over to Belguim for a weekends camping and motorcycle racing.

I wanted to stop off at a Hypermarket after getting off the train and stocking up on some beer before heading off.

Only trouble is Im not going to get to France until about 10-11pm EST. Does anyone know of a market thats 24hour??

Regards

Tim

Well judging by most of the websites, no I'm not. Most of the hypermarkets are 24hours during the week but at the weekend, hmm, there not!

I am talking about a ford galaxy with 7 blokes in it and a roof box requiring enough ale to last 3 days and nights!!!! Im looking for bulk!!!! Bulk!

Adinkerke is the place, just over the border in Belgium. According to this you can get a special personal opening in some stores if you ring ahead.

You are better off looking for a good size Belgian hypermarket specialising in beer. Although I have to say that a *large* Belgian premise stocking an even greater proportion and variety of beer than the normal corner store is probably a mind bending experience.

Typical French hypermarkets will tend to stock the big brewers favourite dross and maybe one or two gems. This is what I believe Laurent was alluding to with the "you must be joking" comment.

I don't quite understand the problem. I presume you're going to spend the night either driving or sleeping, no? In which case you can nip into a hypermarket in the morning when they open.

Worth remembering that most Belgian supermarkets, small or large, have substantial stocks of 'swilling' beer (Hoegaarden,Rodenbach etc) at seriously low prices, pick any you pass. There's no real need to stock up in France and I doubt you'll get a decent choice of beers there anyway.
