bad night

Daughter was doing a curry fritter so I thought lets break out he sparkling cider that I have kept too long, right oxidized yellow brown . . . so I said ok we can move to the main wine for the night a 2002 Trimbach Cuvee Frederik Emile, you guessed it bad cork and oxidized wine eesh we settled for a St Michelle 2011 Horse Heaven Sauvignon Blanc which was by comparison excellent in reality it was a nice non grapefruity SB fresh and acidic and quite nice. As it turned out the fritters were not as hot as I had thought and the wine was a good match. though I knew the cider was too old it was a shame about the CFE.

Eek! I have some of the '02 CFE, too. I hope my cork(s) are in better shape than yours was. My most sincere sympathies.

Glad all ended up good for you Sir. Skunky wine can be tedious. Way some were taught to handle it is take a deep breath and hold it..take a big pull out of the brown paper sack..give a swallow and start breathing again in a bit. Hope you gave that one the old college try before tossing the stuff out.
