After a very long, seriously- conducted blind tasting session by over

30 people, the following beers were chosen on Tuesday as the top three in Yorkshire:

Champion Beer of Yorkshire:

Theakston's Old Peculier (to the amazement of the tasters, too!)

Runner- up:

Acorn Gorlovka Imperial Stout (missed the tiltle by only two points!)

3rd place:

York Guzzler

Congratulations to all the winners.

Rotherham (Oakwood) Beer Festival runs from today (Wednesday) to Saturday. Wednesday and Thursday admission is for invited guests and CAMRA members only; Friday and Saturday are for everyone.

This will have to be a note for next year now, but if you live in the region, then the Oakwood Beer Festival is a must-visit.

It is much larger and more spacious than the Sheffield festival, and there also a much larger collection of beers. I normally don't mind how many beers there are as long as I can have a few milds, porters, and maybe a stout, but the range blew me away when I visited.
