Tales of Old Inns by Richard Keverne hardback 1939 192 pages.



Red cloth boards. Very good condition.



A detailed guided and pictorial tour of the inns of Old England and Wales,many of these have now disappeared.Many illustrations of exteriors and interiors.



Some chapter headings:- The Patchwork English Inn, In East Anglia- Essex,A round of hertfordshire Inns, Shropshire and North Wales, Middle England-the South, Through Hampshire and Berkshire into Wiltshire,Some Yorkshire Inns etc.

I bought mine for £4.50p, in Hay-on-Wye if my memory serves me correctly ... but to be fair, I have the *revised 1947* copy (edited by Hammond Innes).

It has 74 superb B+W 'photos of pub exteriors and interiors, with 10 'pen & ink' drawings and 6 maps.

I noticed by visiting the e-bay link that the photographs have changed and that there's 32 pages less in my copy than the 1939 edition up for sale ???
