Wilkes Head, Leek, Staffs - closed?

Spoke to m'brother tonight - said he thought he'd been past & seen it open in the last fortnight - I also went past in the last 10 days & it was closed, but that was about 10am on an annoyingly early & non-beery trip to Leek - didn't even stop for any blooming oatcakes, harumph.

We've friends who live nearby, so should find out soon what the score is, otherwise, you could email on a Whim? ;~) cheers MikeMcG

On impulse (no Whim involved) I emailed a nearby CAMRA branch member & got the following back -

"The Wilkes Head has had a little shift in ownership, but is still being run by the same landlord as it has been for the last several years. It was definitely open last Saturday, when I was sorting something out for our Mild trail event over there in May."

not sure what happened over the ownership, but sounds like pretty good news? cheers, MikeMcG PS sorry - no info on Dolly the dog, though.

I apologise if anyone has been worried by this. I had been misinformed - the pub is open as usual. I visited last Saturday and the landlord seemed a bit narked that I'd even considered it might be closed.

It's as good a boozer as ever, and the dog is in rude health :-)
