Wolverhampton?

I occasionally encounter a hiatus in the train service from Wolverhampton so I am familiar with the Great Western (good Holden's beer at very reasonable prices, and a real fire).

However, I shortly have to spend a weekend there and would like to know any other recommendations within easy walking distance of the station, and especially if there is anywhere which has more modern opening hours, i.e. after 2300 on Friday or Saturday.

TIA

Cheers, John

I asked a chum for advice. He often has to change trains in Wolverhampton, but all he could offer was this:

"Seriously, nowhere other than the GW springs to mind. Anyway, I'm not sure that the streets of Wolverhampton are that safe, late on a Friday or Saturday night.

"Perhaps he should enjoy the excellent Great Western for as long as he can, then repair to a decent Indian for Balti and curry-friendly lager or two....and book a taxi to get back to his hotel."

But then he is of a certain age and by his own admission, no longer capable of fending off hordes of young women on hen parties. I hope you are younger and fitter!

Thank you for the advice. Don't I usually find you on uk.railway? Still, the late Bill Harvey said, "Steam engines go best with good beer and bad language."

Sadly, I doubt that I am much younger than your chum, almost certainly no fitter and seldom if ever have to fend off hordes of young women.

Cheers, John
