Plastics

Okay, I know it's not quality beer, but I'm wondering if anyone can tell me where I can buy beer in plastic bottles? I know Coors and Miller have versions and I'm hoping to get a couple cases to drink on my boat but it seems like they're only available at baseball parks and concerts.

I do prefer a good micro-brew (Abita being my favorite at the moment) but I don't really have a preference while I'm fishing.

Why plastic? And why no preference when you're fishing? There are some really good beers beginning to show up in cans in the USA. Dale's Pale Ale and Old Chubb from Oscar Blues are really good. Tommyknocker brewery in Idaho Springs Colorado is canning at least one beer, it's not the best micro around but is probably on par with Abita. Sly Fox is also canning a couple of beers.

As for plastic Anchor was putting Anchor Steam in plastic bottles but I think that may have only been for stadium sales. I know I haven't seen it around.

And if you cannot find any micros in cans there are always choices like Paulaner, Bitburger or Warsteiner in cans that are miles above the typical Bud/Miller/Coors offerings.

Lastly you can always get a 5 gallon keg from a local brewery. 5 gallons is about 2 cases so if you've got a couple of friends and a weekend it could be a good option. And there will be no cans or plastic bottles to bother with.

Step back and reassess the problem. Do you simply want non-glass containers? If so, the answer could be as simple as carefully decanting GoodBeer into awell-rinsed plastic containers before you head out fishing. As long as you consume it that day it should be fine. If you need a quantity for more than just yourself look into those 5-liter minikegs I see some decent German beer packaged in.

We have beer in the plastic bottles with resealable tops here in Wisconsin at our gas stations, so it is available outside of the stadium venue.
