Save $119 on beer today!

Yeah, the subject line reads like spam doesn't it?

But, it's true; I saved $119.77 today ON 2 CASES OF BEER!

In New Jersey (and I guess the rest of the Northeast) there is a chain of supermarkets called SHOP RITE, that also has a chain of liquors stores, often located near a grocery store, called SHOP RITE LIQUORS. They usually have a large selection of beers but are notoriously bad at keeping beer fresh, turning over inventory, etc. If you're looking for old, stale beer (some no longer brewed brands included), they're the place to go. The kind of place that keeps the Old Milwaukee Light in the coolers but puts the UK clear bottled beers and German's in green glass on the warm shelf in the bright lights.

They often have a big ad in Wednesday food section of the local papers and, for awhile, even had a "Microbrew of the week" sale. Unfortunately, apparently due to state law, the stores are (as the ads state) are individually owned (I guess they just pay a fee to use the SHOP RITE name) and often the store won't have the item on sale (or the beer in question is out of date).

But, s NON-DISCOUNTED PRICES $143.76 OUR EVERYDAY LOW PRICES 23.99 YOU SAVED 119.77

So, somehow they're going by an individual bottle price on the HopDevil of $6. I'd love to see how much I'd "save" if I bought a keg of some import...
