Barley from Whole Foods

Can someone make an all-grain homebrew using only the grains found at a "whole foods" type grocery store? The yeast and hops would obviously have to come from another source, but are those grains suitable for germination and brewing? Has anybody done this?

You'd probably have to malt them yourself, and go through the mashing process which is somewhat more complicated and requires more equipment than extract brewing.

You'd probably have to ask at the store, or contact whoever provides the grain to the store, to find out whether the grain is likely to germinate.
