Drinking my first glass of first batch ever...

And its not too shabby... its a magic hat #9 clone, and I think I shoulda used a little bit more apricot, but considering I f'ed up and put in some hops in the wrong spot (made it slightly more bitter) it came out pretty good. Too bad #9 isnt a very complex taste to begin with, but Im gonna make another batch to bring to a festival with me in august, and try not to f up the recipe this time, also gonna do a batch of Otter Creek Copper, and thinking about a slightly choclate stout with cherries (done with real cherries and not extracts..). This could turn into a dangerous hobby.

well maybe that's why you like these beers. ;)

i'm from VT and OC is certainly NOT one of my favorite beers. although, they did market a blueberry/loganberry brew this spring/early summer that is OK. MH #9 is too....well, apricotty for me. i know that's what they are aiming for, but it just doesn't do much for me. ever get to McNeill's?

Well, I only added half the apricot flavor that it called for so it wasnt too sweet, and I added extra bittering hops, it came out pretty good, and slightly darker than the real stuff. I like the copper ale, but I also enjoy the taste of copper, go figure. Never been to McNeill's either...

What type of beers do you like? And what are your feelings on Magic Hat's Heart of Darkness?
