True Brew fermenting lid - not drilled !!

Hi all,

My daughter and son-in-law gave me a True Brew beer making kit for my birthday. I've never made beer before and am looking forward to my first batch.

I took out all the items, and started to put things together, and noticed the lid for the fermenting bucket is not drilled nor grommeted, but the instructions say it should be. ???

Is there any way to fix this? The 3 piece airlock doesn't have any threads on it... I'm wondering how it stays in the bucket... any help would be appreciated - our daughter just got married and they gave me this before they left on their honeymoon. I'd hate to have to ask them to bring it back as they'll be living 6 hrs away from us.

I'm handy with drills and things (I even have a drill press, but it's in storage at the moment - argh!)

Pete - waiting to make that first brewski :-)

Im not familiar with the True Brew bucket, but the one we use out here is just a snap on air-tight lid with a hole in it. The airlock jobber fits in a rubber stopper that fits in a hole in the bucket....

You try checkin for a true brew website?

Yup - tried looking for true brew online but no success.

I know they bought it at some shop up in Ogdensburg or Postsdam area... tried the online yellow pages, but can't find anything .... might call a couple of beer outlets up there - maybe they'll know where it came from.

The instructions say the lid (snap on - air tight - sounds just like yours) is suppose to have a hole with a grommet... the airlock is plastic... I'd like to make sure it works the way its suppose to since this is the first time I've done this.

Was wondering - what is the diameter of the hole in your lid? And what's the size of your stopper? Knowing this, I could drillt he same size hole, get the stopper, and hopefully be up and running early next week.

Good question, I'll do a little research, that stuff is all put away since we're between batches, and I think we do have an actual True Brew bucket around (it has a thermometer on the side) that I can check out. Can't promise you an answer tonight, but I'll try to get back to you asap.
