new to brew

I am a newbie to the whole homebrewing experience. Is there anyone who would like to give me any advice or tips as I start? I read the "Homebrewing for Dummies" book and found that I couldn't put it down, that's why I chose to start this as a hobby. Any advice or suggestions will be appreciated, especially when it comes to getting all of the necessary equipment. In advance, thanks.

don't panic. Brewing is not rocket science just take normal care to clean and sanatise everything and you should be fine

Invest $100 bucks or so at a local homebrew shop or online shop. Read and follow the instructions, especially sanitation, and enjoy.

Try homebrew in Google

That's a reasonably good book, and Charlie's attitude shows you how fun and easy it is to brew, but it's loaded with mistakes and bad info. Granted, I (and probably most brewers out there) learned enopugh from it to get excited about the hobby and made some pretty decent beer from it, but once you get on a bit, you see how off some of the things he says are.

I have been told that was a knock on the 1st edition but the 3rd edition seems fairly accurate. I haven't found any glaring errors at least. Of course, I am not really looking for them.

Thanks Avery, We don't have any home brewing shops here in Minot ND (but we gotta bar on every freakin' corner!). I have my eyes on some stuff from e-bay though.

Sorry to butt in, but Minot does have a Homebrew shop in the Arrowhead shopping center. It was on fourth ave. NW for a short time, but moved.
