Any wizards of oz. here?

Hi. I am trying to calculate what a 6-ounze cup will be in the metric system. The calculator I've been using so far, tells me it will be less than 0.2 liters, but that can't be right, can it? Provided that 6-ounze cup is a standard sized cup? Any help would be most welcome.

I use 32oz as a convenient conversion for a liter. Basically volume and weight use the same conversion units. So an oz is around 28ml or

28g. Your calculator is more or less correct.

Thanks a lot. This, along with renewing my views of how much one cup is in litres, gave me some totally new experiences in tea tasting. :-)

Six ounces might be the standard volume of a drinking vessel, but it's not a standard "cup" for measurement.

1 cup = 8 fluid ounces = 240 ml = .24 liter 3/4 cup = 6 fluid ounces = 180 ml = .18 liter

At least in standard U.S. measurements.

Sorry. I trusted a kitchen utensil instead of doing the math myself, so the values are off just a titch.

1 cup = 8 fluid ounces = 236.5 ml = 0.24 liter 3/4 cup = 6 fluid ounces = 177.4 ml = .18 liter

I'm correcting this after reading Jim's post. Thirty-two ounces of fluid is one US quart or 0.9463 liter. Unless you go truly Imperial, then a quart is 1.36 liters

Either way, 6 ounces is not a full cup even if your cup is full, if you follow my meaning.

Try the excellent google converter. You will get the answer if you search for:

I keep the math simple and use 30 for an oz. Everything I buy is in liters or grams and sometimes I work back for the oz. My everyday pot is 1 liter with graduated 100 ml so I think 3oz and come up short. Sometimes when I see those 100ml gongfu pots that would barely be a gulp for me. How much is that 500g package and I think about a pound but I get something extra. Now if only fahrenheit and centigrade were that simple. 0c and 32f aren't much of a reference point.
