Uptons recommends 3-5 minutes brewing time for many high-end black teas. If they are being reasonable, what are the pluses and minuses of three vs. five minutes' steeping?

I've been mostly following their brewing instructions and I'm mostly satisfied. They recommended steeping one of their Darjeelings for 3 minutes. I liked 5 minutes better.
