Heating water for tea - in microwave?

The second is fine for green-tea-lovers too. When you forget to turn the thing off before it boils, just add some cool water to the brewing vessel along with the boiling water. Use a thermometer when bringing the temperature down if you want to be precise. I've been using one of these at work six or more times a day for a few years.

I bought my first electric kettle in May, and I'll never go back to using the microwave. Unless, of course, the kettle stops working or I'm somewhere without a kettle.

I did that years ago, and my microwave died in less than two years. Could have been coincidence, but now I stick mostly to the stovetop, and my microwaves last a lot longer.

I'm going out on a limb but I don't remember any negative posts by any regulars about using a microwave perse. On the contrary many posts on using the mw at work. I posted any number of times using the mw and don't remember negative feedback. The only gotcha is one second the water is simmering and the next boiling without any tell tale signs like a kettle. I frequently reheat the remainder of a pot in the mv.

As I said, there have been a number over the years that stuck in my head because of the vehemence at which the microwave was denounced. There weren't a lot of them, but they've been there. Whether or not they were regulars is questionable, but they were "snobs."

Granted, it's been over the course of 6 years and I didn't bother to save them, so I can't readily quote them and I'm too lazy/busy to search Google for them. :)
