Novice Q about a Darjeeling

I recently bought a few ounces of a nice organic Darjeeling (FTGFOP1S it says).

Two questions:

- I think I understand the FTGFOP1, but what is the S;

- should my tea merchant have identified this tea more, eh... rigorously? Like estate, etc? Since she didn't, does that say something about the tea? The merchant?

Of course I should have asked these questions when I bought the tea, but... oh, well.

When a tea is called a Darjeeling without mentioning an estate, it usually means that it is a blend from Darjeelings from various estates. In most blends the sum is better than the parts.

You wouldn't expect to find a blend labelled FTGFOP1S. Therefore it probably is a single estate tea. It should be labelled with the name of the garden and whether it's a First Flush or a Second Flush.

The 1S is an additional sign of quality, i.e. "1st sorting". Though personally I don't see the point of alle those letters and numbers.
