Taiwanese aged oolong tea

Dear friends of tea

I recently had the opportunity to taste aged Taiwanese Oolong tea. A Kung-Fu tea set with a tea-pot slightly bigger than a large walnut was used in addition to aroma cups (also referred to as "smelling cups"). That particular tea had been aged for twenty years and has a retail value of about $2000,- per kilo. I have to say that the most intricate flavor came out through the aroma cups. I could smell such sweet complexity, hints of orchids, sweet Jasmine and Osmanthus. The liquid was dark brown with a golden shimmer to it. Similar to the fabled grape-fruit tea (aged in a grapefruit), this tea tops my list. Due to my contacts to Taiwanese tea growers I am able to import this line of tea. We refer to it as the "Gold Dragon" series. The aftertaste is still lingering.
