Still here... and a bit amazed at what I started.
I'm still trying to work out whether the particular character of Lagavulin, which is far and away my favourite of those I've sampled, is entirely a question of its peatiness. It has an aromatic, medicinal quality - is this iodine or something else? I'm searching for something that has this quality in even greater strength.
Haven't had the chance to try the Ardbeg 10 yet, so I don't know if that is going to be the one.
Actually Serge, Jura's 1999 distilling program included two weeks of 20,000 litres of spirit using malt peated to a level of 40ppm, the same spirit they used to vat the Superstition. Last year they distilled for a week only using 60ppm malt -- no 80ppm so far, only Octomore has hit that.
And since you've already tried the Japanese Jura 3yo... well, I guess it'll be awhile before I open my bottle, given such a lukewarm review (sorry Lex!)

I must agree that the CI F&F was fenomenal, although the new editions are good too, IMO.
But to get Ms Murdochs opinion on anything peaty is risky, to say the leats, since she doesn't like peaty whisky at all. At the dregs party on the last whisky festival, me and a friend (both peatfreaks) were given the task of emptying all the peaty whisky on the table... (almost succeeded).

The Flora & Fauna series is, as I know it, mainly available in the UK. And the new editions of Caol Ila are quite new, so they need some time before getting around to lauche them world-wide. We haven't got them yet in Norway either, but our neighbouring countries has them.
