The only brandy I have ever found worth drinking is Germain-Robin Alambic Single Barrel (100% from Colombard wine).
Single malts are better though.
I was recently able to try armangnac (the cognac equivalent of single malt Scotch.)
I liked it. :o)

Nice you like it, but armagnac is not cognac... That is a different district and a slightly different production method - think of Speyside versus lowland malt.
But, a good armagnac is very good, indeed.

A truly fine brandy is indeed a treat. Armagnac is French brandy from the Armagnac region of France. Cognac is French brandy from the Cognac region. The better ones are single barrel, single grape, although there are also many blended ones.
I have settled on Germain-Robin, a single barrel, 100% Colombard, bottled at barrel proof. The one I have on hand (barrel no. V59) is 42.1% abv. It's the best brandy I've ever tasted, and surprisingly, grown and hand-distilled in California.
Consider also Calvados, a Cognac-quality apple brandy. Worth a try with your coffee next time you eat in a good restaurant.

There is also Salignac. And the best digestif of all -- Calvados.

I'm sure that there are more whiskies in heaven and earth, than are dreamt of in our philosophies.
