Glenmorangie 18

I have a bottle of the 10 year old....it is ok (drinkable) but not a favorite of mine

I liked all of the Glenmorangie line. The 18 was pretty good and if I had the dough, I'd buy some more just to keep around.

My personal opinion - It's all about personal preference and patronising comments like those above are rude and irritating. I thoroughly enjoy most Glemorangie variants.

Taste is about personal preference. The fact that you might prefer Ardbeg is more to do with the the particular taste characteristics that you enjoy. A preference for one malt over another has nothing to do with ones "whisky education".

I'm an american who acquired a taste for White Horse 40 years ago. Once I had Lagavulin I was hooked on the Islay single malts and became a single malt fanatic. After trying many different malts I am amazed anyone would flame Glenmorangie 18. I can't drink Islay's all the time and appreciate Glenmorangie 18 for a change of pace. I also like the port version for a sweeter dram. I have an unopened special bottle of a sherry style that was gifted to me three years ago, by a friend who died a year ago. It came in a special wood box and I believe it is different than the standard Sherry wood finish. I am saving that for a very special occasion.

All good single malts have their place and Glenmorangie certainly has one in my heart. Please send your bottles to me if you dislike it.

Boy did I mess up. The Glenmorangie is a Claret wood finish not Sherry. If anyone has tried it a brief but positive reply would be appreciated.
