Haig & Haig Blended Scots Whisky

I found a bottle of Haig & Haig Five Star Blended Scots Whisky in a wall of my house. It has to be at least 20-30 years old and I was looking for a little information about it. I am unable to find any info about this specific kind of whisky. I've found a lot of info about Haig Pinch and Haig Gold Star but not Haig & Haig Five Star. Can anyone shed some light on this bottle? Thanks.

Sounds interesting. Time in the bottle doesn't add to the "year old" factor, unfortunately. So if you're in a reasonable climate it'd be as drinkable as when it was put away. That said, when I built my house, I did enclose a pleasant surprise for whoever remodels the bathroom at some date in the future.

Take a look at this page:

It's an E-Bay site; auctioning a bottle of Haig & Haig 5 Star. 43 per cent abv. Current bid is around $20 US.

Here's another reference:

that says it was selling in New York in 1947 (the year I was born, oddly enough) for just over $5.

I think most likely what you've got there is a mass-market blend of that period, probably not of any great quality. It's probably worth more as a collector's item than as a drinking whisky.

If you keep an eye on that E-Bay site for a while, you should find out whether there's a market for it willing to pay more than $20.

cheers.
