J&B Rare

I found J&B Rare blended scotch a bit harsh. Has a little bourbon flavor to it. A flavor that sticks in the back of my palette. I found best way to make it drinkable is one of two ways.

  1. Be in a prison and that is the only scotch available. After a while I would come to appreciate it's subtlties.

  1. Add more water and ice. Diluting this scotch allows it flavor to come out without being harsh. It's actually good this way. The flavor explodes on the the tongue and is mellow and tasty.

Blends are nice on ice. Same with a lot of the cheap malts. My McLellands Islay (probably Bowmore) is still superb on ice--beating out the cheap Signatory Orkney (Highland Park), Teachers, and anything else I dare corrupt by putting on ice by a long stretch.
