Whats this I hear about a new series of Ardbregs?

I've just been told about a new series of distillery bottling, some that will be ... hand bottled, no colour added, non-chilfiltered,bottled straight from the cask at cask strength and others that will be selected for the depth of peat vatted with other casks and sold at 46% with an age statement...

I really hope this is true, I'm a giant fan of their product and have been quite happy with every expression that I have tried. We visited the distillery this September and they let us try a

27y/o and a 9y/o right out of the casks (Bourbon) (little bits of charcoal floating around) Both were phenomenal though the 27 was starting to show just the faintest touch of oakyness (it's a word now)...

You're right. There is a new line of bottlings from Ardbeg. None have shown up on the local shelves yet. I'm still fuzzy on the whole issue - why they have been released and what they consist of. But more Ardbegs can only be a good thing, if they do get into general distribution.

I'm envious of your experience tasting Ardbeg from the cask. It must have been grand to be there at the distillery. I've never been to Scotland - it's a long swim from Texas - though I hope to visit someday.
