1 gal jug of wine

I'm needing to buy a gallon or two of wine in a glass jar.

I will be using these jars for a water distiller that I just ordered; the same one I bought 30 years ago.

Can anyone suggest a wine that one might find drinkable?

Thanks so much.

Hi Dee Dee, I don't know if you can find anything in a 1 gallon glass jar, much less wine. Years ago I had some 1 gallon glass jugs, but they went into the recyclables. Sad to say, you might have to go with plastic. :-( Dick R.

That's news is not good. However, I'm an optimist; so will hope for the best. But never plastic. Dee Dee

Your best bet for a glass jug is probably a homebrew supply store. Try to find one in your area. I have 2 1-gallon glass jugs that I acquired that way.

Some apple juice comes in 1 gallon glass, also. That's worth a shot. Look at the bottom shelves in the juice aisle in your grocery store.

Good luck

I would agree, apple cider yes, wine no on the gallon jugs. Galla still does 'em however, IIRC

Thanks. But my neurons started working. I realized I could probably find them at places like this online if I could not find them in a wine store. I will look for Gallo, too. Thanks.

The couple of times I've been in a Macaroni Grill restaurant they had their house wine in gallon jugs -- I think to persuade people to buy them and take what they didn't drink home. I'm pretty sure they're for sale whether you eat there or not.

I think Macaroni Grills are pretty much all over the US.

There are a couple of Carlo Rossi wines that I like which come in 4L bottles - Chablis and Burgundy. But I don't know if these wines are to your taste.

Hey, hey! I went to my grocery store today and found a Carlo Rossi wine that came in a 4L bottle. They had a Burgundy, Paisano and a Chianti. I took the Chianti. It was about $11+/-. I have no problem with the cost. Just glad that I found a bottle; if we can drink some of it with a pizza, we're to the good and I know where I can get another.

Thanks everyone & Dan-O. Dee Dee
