'11 Yves Cuilleron St Joseph Les Pierres Seches

Had this wine at the bistro "Albion" (Paris 10) and recommended to anyone who happens to be in this neighbourhood. The wine was good enough I thought I'd mention it here. St Joseph is syrah, BTW.

Opened to a good cherry nose, with some slate and tar. The wine was initially very tight and showed it's pedigree (probably young vines) but over the next hour opened very well, refreshing with a fine backbone of leather and dark syrah fruits. Not complex but excellent balance and very enjoyable.
